OUTDOOR FUN IN SOUTH DAYTONA
South Daytona, with 60 acres representing seven public parks and a variety of facilities, has something for everyone. Individuals may reserve picnic pavilions and register for classes at the Parks and Recreation Department office located at the Piggotte Community Center, 504 Big Tree Road.
• Big Tree Ball Field And Passive Park includes a lighted ball field, concession stand/press box, pavilion, picnic facilities and jogging path around a scenic lake with a lighted fountain.
• James Park offers lighted racquetball and tennis courts, press box/concession stand, playground, Youth Activity Center, a variety of classes and summer recreational program.
• Magnolia Park has a pond for the disabled and elderly to fish in, as well as a playground and picnic tables.
• Melodie Park, a scenic spot, offers tennis and basketball courts.
• Ned Wagner Park has a playground, open play area and basketball court.
• Reed Canal Park, a 32 acre passive park that includes a small lake used by the model sailboat club and local fishermen. It features walking trails and picnic facilities.
• Riverfront Park has tennis and shuffleboard courts, a boat ramp, fishing pier, picnic pavilions and a playground.
• Piggotte Community Center offers a conference room and reception hall with kitchen available for rent along with a variety of recreation programs such as exercise and yoga classes and senior dances.
